Speed dating has been around for a while, but it seems to be making a comeback in many big cities — including Chicago.

For those who haven’t tried it, the idea is simple: you meet several people in one evening through a series of short conversations, usually lasting a few minutes each. It’s a quick way to see if there’s a connection without spending weeks chatting online.

      So what do you think?

      * Have you ever tried speed dating in Chicago?

Curious to hear your experiences and opinions!

Personally, i’ve met some people at the gym. It’s more natural, but a feel like speed dating events could do the trick too. Even if it doesn’t lead to a relationship, i think it’s worth trying at least once. Worst case, you have an interesting evening and maybe a few good stories to tell.

I’ve actually done some, there are few website that organize such events. What i liked is that people are more intentional, they know why they come at the speed dating. Everyone is looking for someone, so like in a party it’s more about chemistry.

I think it depends on your personality.

If you’re outgoing and comfortable talking to new people, speed dating can be great. But if you’re more introverted, it might feel a bit overwhelming with so many quick interactions.

I went to a speed dating event in Chicago last year, and it was honestly a very different experience compared to dating apps.

What I liked the most was how immediate everything felt. Within just a few minutes, you can usually tell if you feel comfortable with someone or not. That’s something that can take days or even weeks to figure out through messaging.

It’s not perfect, but it definitely feels more real than online dating.

I think speed dating works best if you go in with the right mindset.

If you expect to meet “the one” in one evening, you might be disappointed. But if you see it as a way to meet new people and have interesting conversations, it becomes much more enjoyable.

It takes the pressure off and makes the whole experience more natural.

At the same time, I can see why it’s not for everyone.

The short time limit can make conversations feel rushed, and not everyone is comfortable making quick impressions. Some people need more time to open up, which isn’t really possible in that format.
